ACTA could further entrench Australia's existing IP laws making future domestic law reform more difficult.

A submission to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in response to their discussion paper on an International Proposal for a Plurilateral Anti Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. The ADA is of the opinion that Australia  has a very high standard of protection for intellectual property rights and would not benefit from the stated aim of a higher benchmark for intellectual property rights enforcement espoused by the ACTA negotiations.
